- (continued from previous page)to Mr. Faughnan.
When it was in good repair it was of great value to the people of that district. It was composed of five big flags and a big flag for a door. In that house there was said to be a cure for a cold and also a cure for pains in the bones. Who ever wished to be cured had to pay a ten penny piece.
Less money would not be accepted. Mr. Faughnan got the money to keep a fire in it for the person who wanted to be cured.
There was a small hole in one of the flags to let out the smoke and when a person wished to be cured he or she had to take off all clothes and put a blanket around him and creep into the house and shut the door and sit down inside until the floor would be wet with sweat. When the entrant came out he would be cured of his cold or pains.
All he had to do then is to hurry home and go to bed for a few hours until he was cool.- Collector
