- Long ago people used to make candles at home. They had a mould that was the shape of a candle.
They first got a piece of linen thread for the wick. They fastened it securely in the middle of the mould.
When they killed a cow or a sheep they rendered the fat and made it into tallow.
They put the tallow into the mould.
They left it for some time until it was hard.
They took it out and it was like the candles we buy in the shop but it was yellow.- Collector
