There was no great hero in my district but there was a big strong man in the parish of Ballylongford. His address is Mr. Michael Mulvihill, Lenamore, Ballylongford Co Kerry. He never chanced any thing in sports or any thing that you would get a prize for but he used go to Ballylongford on Sundays and a few boys would come to some place and they would play some game. He would throw about five to six stone from 30 to 35 feet. It would be no bother on him to carry 20 to 30 stone of grain. The scene used nearly always be in the Ballylongford football field.
    Swift Runners.
There was no great runner in my district but there was a great runner in Listowel some time ago. His name was Patrick Foley. He was able to run a mile in ten minutes. There was a man in Lixnaw who used to challenge him. His name was Michael O Byrne; I never heard of races between human beings and horses or of a man who could catch hares and rabbits.
    Great Walkers.
Some time ago a man by the name of John Enright walked from Mangan's Cross to Listowel Market in one hour and a half. There was another man who walked from Mangan's Cross to Listowel in two hours. His name was Peter Holly.
    Great Jumpers.
There was a great jumper around here some time ago.
