- (continued from previous page)Years ago bread was made in another way. Water was boiled and to it was added meal. When the mixture was quite thick it was cut in squares and baked. This was eaten with sour milk.
Meal and flour were also mixed to make bread. This was baked on a griddle in what was known as "pointers". Nowadays mixed bread is not much used. People in this district never get wheaten bread because very few farmers grow wheat. They say the climate has quite changed and that the soil is not suitable now.- Collector
