“The people in these days did not know anything about parafin oil.”
The people in the days did not know anything about parafin oil. Instead they used splinters made from bod-wood. Those splinter were dipped in the tallow which they used to have saved up all the summer in readiness for the winter nights.
They also used some sort of an iron stand on which to stick the splinter. This stand resembled an anvil which we now see in a large forge. This ws placed on the middle of the floor with the lighting splinter resting on the top to show the light to the household.- Collector
