- The Man in the Bag
One day a traveller was going along the road and it happened that he went into a certain house and on his coming out he took a purse that was on the table. The woman saw him and called him but he ran away.
After a while he looked at the purse and he counted out a hundred shillings and a hundred pounds so he went away delighted with himself. Somebody or other told the king. So the king put him into a bag and the king and one of his servants set out to drown him in a lake. They went into a shop on the way and the man was inside in the bag and he screeching "I am going to heaven, I am going to heaven", and while they were inside another man hearing him say "I am going to heaven" told him to come out and to leave him-(continues on next page)- Collector
