- Once upon a time there were two giants in County Sligo.
One of them did not like the other, so one day they decided to fight.
One of them went up on the Ox Mountains, threw down a large rock at the other and it went down to the sea.
The other giant picked it up, aimed at his companion but it slipped out of his hand. He was so mad that he took out his sword and cut the rock in two pieces.
Now this rock stands in Killanduff near Easkey.
It is commonly known as the Split Rock. The tradition says that any body who walks through the Rock three times shall surely meet their doom.
I have never heard of any body to go through it three times.
