In the townland of Ballnamona there is a fairy fort. It is surrounded by big trees and there is a small hole entering it. It is said that long music used to be heard in it. One day the man whose land the fort is on went out and cut down a bit of one of the trees and put it in the fire. When he was about to start eating his dinner he heard a laugh behind him and turning round he saw the piece of stick he put in the fire walking out the door.
III. In the townland of Castlrock there is a fairy fort. It can be seen from the public road. It is a circular fort with a fence of earth all around it with some white thorn and sloe bushes on top of the fence. There is an entrance hole leading to this fort which is about 300 yards from the public road. About 100 yards from the fort there is an old castle which was built by the great O Donnell family who owned the land. They also built this fort and cave to protect their children
