    The following is a legend of Castle Browne
    It is said that there lived in Ballymacuin Castle a great chief and his daughter and she was to marry a man named Sheehy that was living near them.
    A great noble man named Browne lived at Castle Browne and he wanted to marry her also.
    One night Browne had a great feast and a great crowd came to the Castle and the chieftain and Sheehy came also. Browne who did not like Sheehy intended to kill him
