- Two cattle jobbers were going to a fair in Dingle one day about twenty years ago.
Their names were John O'Neill and Michael Clifford.
They were living near Killorglin.
They came to Cromane to cross by boat taking a short cut to the fair.
Tim Teahan and his son were taking them across by boat.
They had the sails spread and were a long way out to sea when a squall of wind hit the sail and capsized the boat.
The other two men were drowned.
All the boats in Cromane were out searching for them that evening. O'Neill's body was picked up but the others man's body was never found.- Collector
