  1. One time there was a man named Young living in Breaghury. He was married to a respectable girl named Daly who came from Drumore West in Co Sligo. They kept a cook named Mary. The master and mistress always went away on holidays for a fortnight every summer, and there was no one left in the house except the cook.
    One night when the cook was alone in the house a poor man dressed in sugáns came to the door and asked for lodging. Mary said she would not let him in as the neighbours would be talking and laughing about it. At last she said she would let him stay if he promised not to tell anyone about it. "I wont," he said, "if you let me in." So in he went in and she gave him a drop of tea and a
