- (continued from previous page)for two months and it is told that the main which was ornamented with gold was taken off one night and buried in Tubbernagalta well in Tubberunane. Where it remains, there is no dún nor remains of any person. The defenders escaped with very few casualties. The other one in Carrowbricken called Bavune was besieged after Ardnaglass but they were not able to take it as the weather broke and they had to retreat. There is a very large dún just at the rare of this ruined castle and it is said that around it what looks like canal but dry now that they had some arrangement by which they used or could have six or ten feet of water outside the breast works.
