- Among the many games practised locally the principal ones are "Blackberry - picking", "Beds", "Fox in the Den" and "Dallog"
"Blackberry picking is both an enjoyable and a profitable game, for when the fruit is picked a very palatable jam can be made by bringing the fruit to a slow boil then adding sugar to taste.
This may be stored in pots for future use.
When playing "beds" a piece of slate is required and thus equipped seven lines are drawn forming six beds, care being taken to have the grass removed so as to allow the lines be visible. Two or more players may take part in this game. One player may (lake) commence by throwing the slate in the first bed and continuing down the beds hopping on one foot, taking care not to stand on any line. When the player is returning she brings the slate with her. Then the slate is thrown in the second bed and the game is played thus until the competitor misses her aim and does not throw it in the bed required. When this happens the player is "out" and the next player commences. When a competitor throws the slate correctly in(continues on next page)- Collector
