A Local Song
“So, here am I, an Irish lad,”
So, here am I, an Irish lad,
Just landed here to-day.
I thought I'd see ye for a while.
So I cam across the say (sea).
II
They tell me England is a place,
Where all is gay and free,
"Bedad" says "I if thats the case
Sure, Its the place for me."
III
So away I went on roaming bent
I paid my fare made evrything square
And I soon got afloat.
In a beautiful boat.
IV
My father was there tearing his hair,
My sister was crying,
My mother was dying,
And my uncles and cousins were there in their dozens.
V
My mother in haste,
Threw her arms round my waist,
Crying "Paddy" a sthore,
Kiss your mother once more."(continues on next page)- Collector
