The richer people used make Stampy of good potatoes and make them and bake them the same way as the others. The potato cake was made with potatoes mashed up and mixed with a little flour and baked in an oven.In former times some of the people used to bake to bag of meal when it would come from the shop, and others used only make enough for a couple of days.The shapes of Crosses were put on top of the bread to leave in the air. Bread was baked in ovens and on griddles. They usually made bread called slapups (?) for Christmas.
