- (continued from previous page)a number of men were playing cards. The house where they were was on the side of the public road. They heard the horses and cars going to and from the churchyard. The man happened to be buried in a tomb.
A man coming from a card party one night, noticed something white after him down the hillside. Though he quickened his pace the approaching figure seemed to gain a little at every step.
It was a woman, and as she passed him noiselessly he felt the rush of cold air on his face from the swish of her skirts. She went in the direction of Cill an Anana and disappeared into the churchyard.
Another man noticed a tub rolling down the hillside one night. It passed him and disappeared into a passage leading to Castle Hill, a townland in Cordal West.
Men coming home very late one night saw a light in a certain house, and heard talk at the gable. They thought that somebody was ill, and came closer to investigate. The talk seemed to recede to the glen at the back of the house. It was now scolding in a high pitched tone. They said to one another that Paddy had it hot with the wife tonight. They went to make leave, but on approaching the water they heard rocks falling and the scolding ceased.
