in Irish Gníoin-go-Teir. Gníom-go-Teir. meant as much land as two oxen would turn a furrow around in a day, and a half with it again. That was the reason why it was called that name. There are thirty seven houses in it now, and the population is about two hundred people. There are six people over seventy years of age living in it. There are eight shops, two public-houses a school, a post-office, and thirthy three other houses in it presently. Amongst all these there is only one thatched house, and that is Tim Casey's.
