On the day of the threshing the woman of the house has a busy time cooking the dinner. She usually has a great roast of meat; this is enjoyed very much by the country people. If they are there long after dinner they get tea, she has just plain bread and brack for them to eat.
On the night of the spree there is usually a half barrel of stout for the merry-makers. There is dancing and story-telling, and all kinds of games and tricks, as well as plenty of tea and good cheer.- Collector
