    in the school. The pens that the scholars wrote with were quills pens made from feathers and they used slates and slate pencil. The master's name was James Duffy. Every scholars would take a penny a week and that was how the teacher was paid. The ruins of this school are still to be seen.
    In an old lane in Corryloa by the by the name Hanratty's it is said that there was an old hedge school It was a small building consisting of one room with a straw roof on it its wall's were made of sods and clay and it had no windows. As no schools
