    The man of the house would have to go for some man or woman who had the power to charm away the ill-luck. This man would take rags or thatch and burn it in front of the cow's nose.
    The only rhyme that I know connected with churning is
    Churn the buttermilk, thick, thick, thick.
    For I'll have none of your watery milk.
    We use the buttermilk for baking bread or drinking or giving some of it to the pigs and calves.
