There are not as many poets now as there used to be. Long ago people had to get money before they would make a song. John Murphy of Killeevan can make songs. He made a song about the Killeevan Football team.

- In the year 1845 in Conaghy a terrible blight came on the potatoes. The people knew nothing of the spraying. When the potatoes were dug they were small and black.
The principal food they had was Indian Meal. That year there was a great corn crop. Every person sold corn to pay the rent.(continues on next page)
