    Beware of false shooting in the dark of the night
    Beware of some shooting that happened of late
    I shot Molly Ban Lowry the pride of my fate.
    I shot the beany wee lass I intended my own
    I shot Molly Ban Lowry the pride of Athlone
    She was coming from her uncles when the shower came on
    She went under that green bush the shower to shun
    With her apron lapped round her I took her for a swan
    But oh and alas it as my Molly Ban
    I stepped it up to her with the gun in my hand
    My limbs they grew weak and I scarcely could stand
    I put my finger on her temple
    When I found she was dead
    A fountain of tears for my Molly I shed
