- The farm animals we keep are the horse, ass, cow, sheep, pig and goat. The domestic animals are the cat and dog. We also keep poultry hens, ducks, geese and turkeys.
We do not call our cows by special names. The horses names are Charley and Rose. When driving cows in or out of the field we say How! How! When driving calves we say Suck! Suck!
Our cow-house is thatched. The cows are tied in bales. They are never tied by the horns nor legs, but by the neck. The bales were made by the local carpenter. We hang Blessed palm in the animals' houses to bring them luck.
We do not like to give milk to people on May day, as there is a superstition that the person who takes milk on that day will take it for the year.- Collector
