My Home District.
The name of our townland is Drumgoask in the parish of Tydavnet and in the barony of Monaghan. There are nine families in the townland and about forty-five people. The name of each family is different. There are some of the houses slated and some tiled.
There are some people over seventy. They cannot speak Irish and do not tell stories.Their names are Mr.Dolan and Mrs.Dolan,Milltown,Monaghan.
Houses were more numerous locally in former times as there are many now in ruins. The people of these houses emigrated to other countries in former years mostly to America. The land is hilly but good. The river Blackwater runs along one side of the townland and the other part is bound by bog and stream.- Collector
