    Basket and Creel Making
One of the basket and creel makers of long ago was Patrick Cleirkin, Annacalkill, Scotstown, grandfather of Francis Corr, Boughkeel. He lived in the house in which his daughter Mrs. B. Corr now lives.
He made baskets and creels in his home and sold them to his customers. He also brought them to town on market days and sold many of them there.
My grandfather, John Cleirkin, also made baskets and creels, but he did not make a trade of it. On wet days and in all his spare time he made them and sold them.
