    Folklore
    Local Fairs
    The local fairs are now held in Scotstown and Tydavnet on the seventh and twentyfourth of every month respectively and when the fair day occurs on a Sunday, the fair is held on the next day. In some cases, the buyers would go to the farmers' houses to buy cattle before a fair.
    The Tydavnet fair was discontinued about forty years ago because the people fought too much in it and when buyers would make a bargain with the local people, they would sell the cattle to their neighbours and therefore the buyers stopped coming but it was re-started in the last month.The fairs are held on
