Monaghan - For rheumatism or pains.In parts of Donegal the broad leaves of the plantain major are used as a poultice. The leaves are heated over the fire when the "sinews" "or ribs" can be withdrawn from the leaf. The origin of the cure is that at once St. Patrick's followers made him a bed of plantain leaves he slept on them and left a cure in them. The leaf is called Cúl Pádraig (Patrick's back)(continues on next page)
