- Molahiffe is a village situated in the centre of Kerry. It got its name from the plain of the Laffis, a sept of the McCarthy mores who lived there long ago. There is a Castle in Molahiffe, and it is supposed to be connected with Firies Castle, and a Castle that was in Clonmellane by an under ground cave.
These passages were used by the people in olden times when they wanted to hide from invaders. At one time there was a lot of house in Molahiffe, but now there are all knocked down.
There is a beautiful modern Church in Molahiffe.- Collector
