Tithes were collected in former times in this district (Droumduhig, parish of Ballyhar, Co. Kerry). They were collected by the Tithe Proctor for the Protestant Minister of the district. They were collected in money. When the Proctor would come he would take a note of the crops a person had and then levy a tax.
