- Long ago and up to 40 or 50 years ago shoes were not commonly worn as they are to day and several never wore shoes. A local woman named Mary Anne who was not steady never wore shoes nor did another of the same tribe nicknamed fly. A fisherman living in Tahilla never in his life wore a shoe.
