    in the hearse the horses would not move so the men were obliged to carry it out and then the horses followed.
    In the vicinity there is a place called Ard-deirgh which means "the height of the Red" on account of a battle was fought there. Tradition tells us that this place was once called the "Red Fort." There is also an old Church there which is now covered with ivy. Many tomb stones are to be seen there and the engraves are still visible on them.
    Long ago it is said this place was old. Punchestown and the wall of the main stand is still to be seen there.
