- The Snow Storm of 1933.
During the month of February in the year 1933, the people awoke on a Friday morning to discover the country covered with a mantle of snow, which had fallen at the dead of the night.
Some of the neighbouring counties such as Wicklow, with its mountains and glens, suffered intensely on account of this terrible fatality, which they were no prepared for.
It is said that in the shallow places it was 4 feet deep and worse still, it amounted to 10 feet where it had drifted.
