There was a hedge-school long ago in Ballyteague in a field now owned by Keenan's, Ballyteague. The field is ever since called "The Master's Garden". The teacher's names were Mr. Farrell, and Mr. Walsh. There was a Protestant school held in Thornton's in Ballyteague and Miss Bradford of Kilmeague, now Mrs. Young went down every morning to teach the Thortons.
