    and they sailed for forty days and the wind drove them swifter and swifter away from Ireland.
    They sailed and sailed and by the grace of God they saw a green island full of flowers and trees. When they came close to it, they disembarked and gave God thanks for guarding them form the perils of the sea.
    They walked through the lovely island and at last they reached a well full of cool, sweet water and there they refreshed themselves. Beside the well grew a tree and on every branch were beautiful white birds - so many of them, that scarcely a green leaf could be seen. All the birds were singing, and their happy notes were like the music of Heaven.
