The sparrow, Swallow and the Starling build their nests in house-eaves. The Faoileán, Swan and water hens build their nests in lakes. The Lark and Corncake build in meadows.
The Jack-saw build in chimneys. The Grouse, Snipe, Patridge, Curlew, Crane, Pellibeen and Wild Duck build their nests in the bogs.
If the Curlew comes out whistling in the evening it is the sign of rain.
When the Robin sings under a tree it is the sign of snow but when he sings on the top of a tree it is the sign of good weather.
