    died this year (1938).
    Carney gave Doyle the price of a shirt and directed him to Duke's shop. He bought a shirt at 6s and came back to Carney who got him to put it on and gave him the old one. Carney parcelled up the old one and sent Doyle back as if to return the purchased garment.
    Duke was disgusted thew him the 6/- and pegged the parcel under the counter. Later he discovered how he had been tricked.
