- (continued from previous page)to cart on a Saturday. Friday is a lucky day for sowing potatoes. If a fisherman fishes on a Good Friday or on an Easter Sunday night he will catch no more fish that season.
Friday is believed an unlucky day, on which to marry. The Sean Riabach days, or the skinning of the old cow, are believed to be the coldest days of the year. These days are the last two in March and the first day of April. it is said that the wind challenged to skin the old cow on the two last days of March, but at the end of the two days the cow still lived so March had to borrow days from April to skin the old cow.
It is believed lucky to kill a pig on the Friday after the full moon. - A lot of old men visit the parish of The Rower. Some of these old men have been coming for the past twenty years. Most of them are very poor. Some sell little articles such as combs, hair-pins, and other little things. Others mend pots and cans for the people.
