Some of the buyers, especially the butchers from New Ross, go through the country, buying cattle and sheep.
There is a great sheep fair held annually in Borris on the fifteenth of August. A lot of people from the parish of The Rower go ther to sell sheep. - Mr. Tighe was the landlord of this district. The Tighes dwelt in Inistioge for years. Lady Tighe was the first that came there.
Mr. Tighe was a wicked man. There were a lot of evictions when he was the landlord of this district. The most of the people that were evicted went to America, and some went to England.
The land of the district was divided into farms under their guidance.
If Mr. Tighe wanted a man to work for a day with him, and if the man did not come he would have to pay some money as fine. If a tenant cut a tree on his farm he would also have to pay money to the landlord.(continues on next page)- Collector
