- Local Marriage Customs
Marriages most often take place before and after Easter. Lots of marriages take place on Shrove Tuesday. The Months of May and August are thought unlucky for marriages.
Also Saturdays and Sundays are thought unlucky.
In some parts of Ireland men go match-making. But they do not in this district. There is a big party and dance held on the wedding-day. The Bride generally wears a white dress and veil when getting married. And the man generally wears a navy blue suit. There is always a feast held immediately after the wedding.
There is a wedding procession held when the bride and groom are walking up the Church to be married.
