    Continued (Schools)
    Maudlin Street In Maudlin Street there was a school in a room of a private house, where forty five pupils attended and who paid their teacher Margaret Clonessy 2 to 4s per quarter.
    Michael's Lane. In Michael's Lane a school class was held in a room in a stone house where the Michael Lynch taught twenty two pupils and was paid 2 to 4 s per quarter.
    Maudlin Street College. This was the old three storey house in Maudlin St which served as a residence for the priest of St. John's parish till the erection of their present fine presbytery about 1895. It was established as the Ecclesiastical College of the Diocese by Dr. Marum who was its president. The The professors were Rev Ed Nowlan and Rev Patrick Kelly. Students represented many of the Irish Dioceses. They were lodged at first in various parts of the city but accommodation was provided for them as boarders in the establishment itself.
