    a very backward and mountainous district called Sucage and from time immemorral there is a path and car-road down to the school.
    Before the Aclare Bridge was made the river was crossed by means of a ford. In heavy floods it was impassable.

    There is a cross of white stones in the Tickerlivan Old road to mark the sport where Laurence O'Neill a labourer in the employment of Denis Sheehy met his death when he was accidentally killed by a horse. There is anohter in the Coolroe Hill to make the spot where Kennedy Raheendenore met his death as he was coming from Graig with a large load of zinc.
    There is another near Aclare bridge to mark the spot where ___ was killed by lightning as he was mowing with a scythe in the employment
