- By the side of the River Barrow one can see the remains of a dock which was used in days gone by, for the building and repairing of river barges. At that time barges were the only mode of transport from Graignamanagh to Dublin and other market towns, on the River Barrow.
At Tinnehinch there was a saw pit where Mrs. Walshe's house is now. In this pit timber used for the building of these barges was prepared. In sawing out this timber a frame was used with a pit underneath to hold the saw dust. A man had to be under this pit and to prevent the saw dust from going into his eyes he wore a veil.- Collector
