  1. In Harristown Co. Carlow, on Mr. Hughe's farm there is a rath. Many are the stories connected with the rath and here is one of them.
    Once a woman from the town went on a visit to some friends in the country. She was returning home about twelve o'clock in the night. She took a short cut across the rath field. When she entered the field she saw to her surprise that the rath was lit up. She went over and looked in there she saw the grandest house she ever laid her two eyes on. There was a light in each room. She went around and looked in each window. She was lost in admiration, and when she found a door open she went in. The house was silent, so she went upstairs and into each bedroom. She thought one room nicer than
