    family named Murphys took their place. After a time these were evicted and themselves and their belongings were left at the crossroads in Marley. None of the neighbours would take them in for if they did they knew that they themselves would be evicted next. A protestant named Mrs. Hill took them in and she being a protestant Mr. Kavanagh said nothing to her. But he transported the Murphys to America and he let on of Murphy's daughters who was seventeen years back to live in the "Palace of Marley".
