- Old Prayers. The old people had some nice prayers. Of course they were in their own language. There was one poor woman who had two sons in America and her daily prayer was "God may save all our neighbours by sea and by land", she lived in the Dock. Betty Cooke was her name. There was an old man who lived in Tinnechinch. John F Lynn was his name and every night when going to bed he used catch the bars of the bed and say, "Here is God and the Holy Ghost against the devil".
