of a man he met on the road for directions. The man Nixon by name who lived in a farm latterly named Pierts near Thomastown was curious and found out the officer's business. He then led him up and showed him the Ridiga a large tract of land all furze, bracken and stone. The officer was so vexed when he saw the place he said "It you could get me a horse to overtake my company and a loaf of bread to eat I will gave you the title deeds." "I would not take a present of them."
So the exchange was made and Nixon came and took Brownsbarn and turned out several families. His descendants took possession of the little Church as a burial ground. The tombs are there like stone tables to this day.
