  1. There lived in Gowran a man named Joseph Whelan. He was a very handy man. His usual work was nail making.
    He used to gather together lots of scrap iron and shape the nails out of it. he gave up his work at the age of sixty two and he died at sixty five.
    His brother carried on the work and it is said he did better trade than his brother Joseph.
    A man named Mr Gleespen always bought the nails from him.
