- Nearly every plant that grows cures some discease. Mumps are cured by a flat leaf called "Gladam" rolled around the neck. The root of a dock leaf when put up for a while is supposed to cure "warts". Chicken weed cures Rheumatism. Robin run the hedge when boiled with salt cures "Scurvy". If you had a sty on your eye prod it with the thorn of a "goosberry bush" and it would cure it. A sore lip is cured by a young "dock leaf".
