St. Martins night
On St. Martins night people kill a fowl and sprinkle the blood on the hearth in honour of St. Martin.
St. Martin will take this little offering before or after his night.
Shrove Tuesday
Shrove Tuesday is the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday and it is the last day for getting married.
It is an old custom on that day to shake salt on any boy or girl who were to get married and did not to preserve them fresh for the coming year.
Halloween night
On Halloween night the young boys have great fun ducking for apples in a tub of water and playing tricks on one another.
