- Long ago there were no doctors in Ireland the old people had a lot of cures.
One of the cures were a healing leaf. When a person has a sore it is a very good cure to put one of those leaves on the sore. It is a green leaf which grows in the fields and is supposed to be very good for any sore.- Informant

- In the village of Clonbard there is a well. Many people go to this well to get their eyes washed because it is supposed to cure eyes. One day some gentlemen were out shooting and this particular man asked one of his servants what were the people coming to the well for and the servant told him the reason.
The gentleman has a dog with one eye so they called him and washed his eyes and the dog recovered his sight. The owner of the dog lost his sight and was blind for the remainder of his days.- Informant
